Deformation Characteristics Study on Excavation of Roadbed Drainage Ditch Construction
This study employs the PFC2D discrete element software to conduct a numerical simulation of roadbed drainage ditch excavation based on the roadbed engineering of Menglu Expressway.By constructing soil particle models according to physical and mechanical parameters of different soil sections, the deformation of drainage ditches with various shapes after excavation was recorded and analyzed. The findings reveal that the largest vertical displacement of soil particles at the base occurs in rectangular and trapezoidal drainage ditches, necessitating compaction of the foundation soil during construction. The vertical displacement of the rectangular drainage ditch model assumes a"U"shape with potential failure surfaces, whereas that of the trapezoidal drainage ditch model assumes a circular shape without potential failure surfaces. Therefore,it is recommended that the design of drainage ditches be in trapezoidal shapes, and timely concrete pouring should be carried out during construction to minimize slope damage.
