Effect of Fly Ash and Slag Composite Admixture on Mechanical Properties and Durability of High Performance Concrete
In this paper, the effects of composite admixtures composed of fly ash and slag on the mechanical properties and durability of high performance concrete were investigated. In the test, three kinds of concrete samples with water-cement ratio of 0.47,0.30 and 0.25 were made, and the ratio of fly ash and slag in the composite admixture was changed under each sample to verify the relationship between the compressive strength and dry shrinkage of the composite admixture. The results show that when the water-cement ratio is small, the late compressive strength of concrete can be improved and its dry shrinkage can be reduced by adding composite admixture instead of some cement. In the composite admixture, when the content of fly ash is constant, the more the content of slag, the better the mechanical properties and durability of concrete. It can be concluded that the mechanical properties of concrete can be improved and its service life can be prolonged by proper incorporation of fly ash and slag and reducing the amount of cement under the premise of reasonable design of concrete mix ratio.
