An Engineering-Level NumericalStudy on Thermal Contact Resistance of Cylindirical Assembly Surfaces
In many nuclear engineering problems, such as the thermo-mechanical interaction between pellet and cladding and the heat transfer process in a heat pipe reactor, thermal contact resistance is a fundamental parameter for heat transfer analysis of the structure, besides,it is also an important uncertainty source for the temperature prediction of the system. In order to reasonably and accurately predict thermal contact resistance of cylindrical mating surfaces, this study used rough surface reconstruction technique and finite element method to conduct thermo-mechanical coupled analysis on the cylindrical mating structures at high temperatures. The numerical prediction method established in this study can be applied to the prediction of thermal contact resistance of cylindrical mating surfaces at high temperatures, and themethod can provide areasonable numerical method and results for the interfacial heat transfer.
