Optimization Method of Saturated State Arterial Road Signal Control Based on Navigation Map Traffic Light Data
This paper proposes a method for arterial signal control optimization based on navigation map traffic light data.It designs an optimization process for manual control simulation at a single point, including peak period division, common cycle optimization, phase time allocation, and timing scheme verification.Additionally,it develops a method for calculating arterial coordinated phase differences based on queue balancing and diversion.A case study focusing on peak period signal optimization for Beijing East Road in Nanchang is conducted.Compared to the current control scheme, the optimized signal control scheme using this method significantly reduces the manual con-trol duration during peak periods on Beijing East Road, lowers the bidirectional average congestion index by 19%,and decreases the average delay time by 16%.The method, based on practical experience combined with traffic sig-nal control theory, optimizes the signal control scheme for saturated arterial. It effectively deal with practical issues such as routine manual control at intersections and queue overflow.
