Design and Practice of Performance Improvement for Reinforced Concrete T-Beam Bridges
As a mature bridge type, reinforced concrete T-beam bridges are widely used in highway con-struction in China. After years of operation, the 73 version of reinforced concrete T-beam bridges have de-fects such as cracks and weakened lateral connections and lack of anti-collision capability in handrails. This article will analyze the causes of these defects. And it proposes to improve the anti-collision capability,over-all transverse performance and the strength and stiffness of main beams by adding steel cantilevers and steel guardrails, replacing horizontal hinged connections with rigid connections and pasting steel plates and channel steel, which shows a good performance in practice.
