This paper aims to investigate the mechanical properties of large steel storage tanks under wind loads.The study is enabled by establishing a finite element model of the storage tank under static wind load with the help of the finite element software ABAQUS,comparing and analyzing the stress and deformation results on the windward side and crosswind side of bare tank(without wind-resistant struc-ture)and reinforced tank(with wind-resistant structure)under wind load,and the influence of storage liquid on the wind-resistant performance of the storage tank.The results show that the tank wall is con-cave on the windward side by wind pressure,and the tank wall on the crosswind side is convex by wind suction.The wind load has a great influence on the empty tank,and the wind-resistant structure can ef-fectively reduce the deformation of the top of the tank wall in the empty tank state.In the liquid-filled state,the effect of wind load on the tank wall is not obvious,and the most easily damaged position of the tank wall under the action of storage pressure appears at a height of 2.42 m from the bottom of the tank.
