Effect of dietary protein level on muscle nutrient composition of juvenile Poly-odon spathula
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary protein content on muscle nutrients of juvenile fish Polyodon spathula, and to determine the optimal dietary protein level required for growth of the fish.A total of 300 healthy Polyodon spathula with similar body weight and no disease were divided into 5 groups with 3 replicates per group and 20 Polyodon spathula per replicate. Each group was fed diets with different protein levels,in which the protein content of test group 1 was 36.05%,the protein content of test group 2 was 38.06%,the pro-tein content of test group 3 was 40.1%,the protein content of test group 4 was 41.98%,and the protein water con-tent of test group 5 was 44.05%.The experiment lasted for 8 weeks. At the end of the experiment, muscle samples of each group of spoon sturgeon were collected to detect their nutritional composition. The results showed that the crude protein level in muscle of Polyodon spathula fed diet with protein content of 40.1%and 41.98%was signifi-cantly higher than that of feed group with protein content of 36.05%(P<0.05).The level of crude fat in muscle of Polyodon spathula fed diet with protein content of 40.1%and 41.98%was significantly higher than that of feed groups with protein content of 36.05%,38.06%and 44.05%(P<0.05).The study showed that when the protein content of the feed was 40.1%~41.98%,the muscle nutrition value of the fish was higher.
