Effects of adding Bacillus licheniformis to feed on the growth performance of Cyprinus carpio
This experiment was designed to study the effects of adding different levels of Bacillus licheniformis to the feed of carp(Cyprinus carpio)on its growth performance, and to determine the optimal level of Bacillus licheniformis addition in carp culture. In the experiment,480 carp with similar body weight were randomly divided into 4 treatment groups, with 4 replicates in each group and 30 carp in each replicate. The carp in each group were sequentially fed diets containing 0%,0.1%,0.2%and 0.4%Bacillus licheniformis.A 60 d formal trial was conducted after 2 weeks of domestication. At the end of the trial the growth performance of the carp in each group was determined. The results showed that, compared with the control group, the experimental group fed diets containing 0.2%and 0.4%Bacillus licheniformis could significantly increase their end-of-trial weight, weight gain rate, and significantly reduce the feed coefficient(P<0.05);feeding diets containing 0.1%,0.2%,and 0.4%Bacillus licheniformis could significantly in-crease the specific growth rate(P<0.05);feeding feeds containing 0.2%Bacillus licheniformis could significantly in-crease the specific growth rate(P<0.05);and feeding diets containing 0.2%Bacillus licheniformis could significant-ly increase the specific growth rate(P<0.05).Bacillus licheniformis significantly(P<0.05)increased protein efficien-cy.The results of the study indicated that the addition of appropriate amount of Bacillus licheniformis in the culture of carp can significantly improve its growth performance, and the optimal amount of Bacillus licheniformis is 0.2%.
