The effects of different temperatures and light intensities on the growth and photosynthetic physiology of Pyropia yezoensis
The Pyropia yezoensis is a kind of seaweed with important economic value. This study aims to explore the effects of different temperature and light intensity conditions on its growth and photosynthetic physiology. The exper-iment set up environments of low temperature(LT:10℃)and high temperature(HT:14℃)along with different natural light intensities(50%,25%,12.5%,6.25%,3.125%)to investigate the effects of temperature and light intensity on the growth and photosynthetic physiological indicators of Pyropia yezoensis. The results show that under low temperature conditions, strong light significantly inhibited the growth of Pyropia yezoensis;whereas at higher temperatures, low light limited its growth. Both high temperature and low light conditions significantly suppressed the maximum quantum yield of Pyropia yezoensis(Fv/Fm).Lower light intensity favored the accumulation of pho-tosynthetic pigments chlorophyll a(Chl a),carotenoid(Car),phycobiliproteins(PE),and phycocyanin(PC);weak light conditions and moderate light intensity under higher temperature conditions were suitable for the accumu-lation of Chl a and Car,while lower temperature and weaker light intensity promoted the synthesis of PE and PC.In conclusion, temperature and light intensity significantly affect the growth and photosynthetic physiological indica-tors of Pyropia yezoensis, and have interactive effects on the accumulation of various photosynthetic pigments.
