Application of waste catalytic cracking catalysts in cathode materials of lithium sulfur batteries
Lithium-sulfur batteries have an ultra-high theoretical specific energy of 2.6(kW·h)/kg,which are considered to be the most potential candidate batteries for energy storage systems. However, the high cost of synthesizing high-performance lithium-sul-fur battery raw materials is a major obstacle to the commercialization of lithium-sulfur batteries. The catalytic cracking units of re-fineries produced large quantities of waste catalysts, which were usually disposed as hazardous waste. This paper introduced a new technology of synthesizing the cathode material of lithium-sulfur battery and assembling the battery using the waste catalyst of cata-lytic cracking unit as raw material, carried out the physical characterization and electrochemical testing of the materials, studiedthe mechanism of the influence of different waste catalyst doped carriers on the properties of the positive electrode materials, and dis-cussedthe influence of the lithium-sulfur battery assembled from the positive electrode on the electrochemical properties.
