Determination of contents for gamma alumina phase in catalysts and its supports by X-ray diffraction
The relative content(also known as relative crystallinity)of γ-alumina phase in 6 typical catalysts and their supports was measured by X-ray diffraction and SH/T 0625(standard for the petrochemical industry, determination method for gamma alumina content in catalysts containing silica and alumina by X-ray diffraction). It was found that the experimental conditions of step scanning in SH/T 0625 were problematic. Therefore,an improved test method was proposed based on the formulation of SH/T 0625 standard. It mainly includes the selection of step scanning test conditions. The relative content of γ-alumina phase was determined by external standard method. The range of determination was 35.9%~114.0%,the standard deviation(SD)was 0.7%~1.9%,and the relative standard deviation(RSD)was 1.2%~1.8%.The relative content of γ-alumina phase(nominal value 114.0%)of the reference sample was determined with an absolute deviation of-2.3%~+1.6%(n=10),which can meet all the technical requirements of the relative content determination of γ-alumina phase in the relevant catalyst and its support.
