Dispersion turning point high sensitivity refractive index sensor with tapered seven-core fiber
Tapered fiber optic refractive index sensors based on dispersive turning point(DTP)have promising applications in fields such as bio-detection and substance analysis due to their reliance on the unique characteristics of DTP,resulting in ultra-high sensing sensitivity. In this paper,a tapered seven-core fiber(SCF)liquid refractive index sensor based on the DTP is proposed, which is fabricated by the secondary pulling cone method, and it is proved by theory and experiment that the sensor has ultra-high refractive index sensitivity near the DTP.The maximum value of refractive index sensitivity is 23 262.30 nm·RIU-1 for the region around refractive index 1.33,and 23 658.23 nm·RIU-1 for the region around refractive index 1.35.In addition, the sensor has good reproducibility, which makes it show great potential in the fields of microbial solution detection and plasma detection.
