Objective:To study the clinical effect of cucumber in patients with xerostomia after general anesthesia in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. Methods:The convenience sampling was used to collect 120 patients after hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in a third grade class A general hospital of Quanzhou City,Fujian Province from September 2019 to September 2020.The subjects were randomly divided into experimental group(cucumber),control group(wet cotton swab)and conventional group(warm water)by random number method,40 cases in each group. After returning to the ward 30 minutes after operation,3-4 slices of thin cucumber slices were pasted on the lips and contained in the mouth of the patients in the experimental group,30min/time,once a hour. The control group was given cotton swab dipped in warm water to moisten the lips, once a hour, and the conventional group was rinsed with warm water for 5S,once a hour.To observe the grade of xerostomia and the oral mucosa moist degree in three groups before intervention and 6 hours after returning to the ward. Results:Compared with the control group and blank group, the grade of xerostomia and the oral mucosa moist degree in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group and the blank group(P<0.05);Compared before and after within groups, the grade of xerostomia and the oral mucosa moist degree in the experimental group were p<0.001(P<0.05);In control group the grade of xerostomia was p=0.262,and the oral mucosa moist degree was p=0.234;In the conventional group the grade of xerostomia was P=0.812,and the oral mucosa moist degree was P=0.326.There was no significant difference. Conclusion:Cucumber can significantly improve postoperative xerostomia and comfort level of patients after hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery.
