Shengyang Yiwei Tang is a common prescription created by Li Dongyuan based on the theory of"lung deficiency of the spleen and stomach",which first appeared in the book"Discrimination of Internal and External Injuries".The prescription consists of 14 herbs,such as astragalus,ginseng,atractylodes,poria,licorice,tangerine peel,pinellia,bupleurum,incised notopterygium rhizome and root,Doubleteeth Pubescent Angelica Root,Divaricate Saposhniovia Root,alisma,coptis and peony.It is mainly used for syndromes such as spleen and stomach qi deficiency,yang qi not ascending,turbid yin not descending,damp-heat stagnation,etc.,all of which belong to the category of spleen and stomach deficiency.This article aims to analyze the academic thoughts of Li Dongyuan reflected by this prescription,trace its historical evolution in later generations,and give an example of how Professor Liu Changfa used this prescription to treat diarrhea in clinical practice.
