Objective To enhance the knowledge and skills of community nurses in the management of oral health for older adults and to promote early prevention and treatment of oral diseases in this population. Methods A total of 45 community nurses participated in a comprehensive training program that combined online micro-video teaching with offline practical training.Knowledge assess-ments were administered to the community nurses before and after the training.Additionally, community nurses and dentists inde-pendently assessed oral health of 90 community-dwelling older individuals using the Oral Health Assessment Tool(OHAT).Re-suIts Oral health knowledge of community nurses was significantly improved after the training(P<0.05).Before the training,sta-tistically significant differences were observed in the OHAT assessments between community nurses and dentists(all P<0.05).However,except dental pain,no significant differences were found in the total OHAT score and seven of the eight individual cate-gories of the OHAT after the training(all P>0.05).Conclusion Micro-video based training can effectively enhance the knowledge and skills of community nurses in oral health care and screening for the older adults.
