Translation and validation of the Barriers to Physical Activity during Pregnancy Scale
Objective To translate the Barriers to Physical Activity during Pregnancy Scale(BPAPS)into Chinese,and to test the re-liability and validity of the Chinese version.Methods The original scale was translated,back-translated,culturally adapted using the Brislin translation model to form the Chinese version of the scale.A convenience sampling method was used to survey 418 pregnant women in a tertiary maternity hospital in Nanjing from June to August 2023,in order to evaluate the reliability and validi-ty of the Chinese version.Results The Chinese version BPAPS included 4 dimensions of pregnancy-related intrapersonal barriers,non-pregnancy related intrapersonal barriers,interpersonal barriers,and environmental barrier,totalling 29 items.The item-level content validity index(CVI)ranged from 0.833 to 1.000,and the scale-level CVI was 0.931.Exploratory factor analysis extracted 4 common factors with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 68.383％.Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the model fitted well(x2/df=2.859,RMSEA=0.067,RMR=0.048,NFI=0.904,GFI=0.848,IFI=0.935,TLI=0.928,CFI=0.935).The Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.947,and the test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.768.Conclusion The scale has good reliability and validity,and it can be used as an effective tool to assess barriers to physical activity during pregnancy.
