Exploring factors influencing healthcare-seeking behaviors in disabled stroke patients:an intergenera-tional support perspective
Objective This study aims to examine the current status and primary influencing factors of healthcare-see-king behaviors in disabled stroke patients and explore the impact of intergenerational support on their healthcare-seeking be-haviors.The goal is to provide a theoretical foundation for promoting rational healthcare behaviors in this patient popula-tion.Methods A web-based questionnaire survey was conducted from January to March 2023 using the convenience sam-pling method on 608 patients in the special database system for the management of the stroke prevention and control project. The survey covered four aspects:patients'general information, degree of disability, intergenerational support, and current medical treatment behaviors.Multiple linear regression was employed to analyze the influencing factors of healthcare-seeking behaviors in disabled stroke patients. Results Among 608 stroke patients with disability, the scores were(30.30±5.22)for healthcare-seeking behaviors and(16.91±0.83)for intergenerational support. The multiple linear regression analysis revealed that age, monthly income, distance to medical care, intergenerational care, transportation to medical care, degree of emotional communication, and frequency of emotional communication were influencing factors for healthcare-seeking be-havior in disabled stroke patients(P<0.05).These factors explained 41.6%of the total variance. Conclusion The overall healthcare-seeking behaviors of disabled stroke patients are reasonable, and intergenerational care support,as well as inter-generational emotional support, positively influence their healthcare behaviors. The elderly,low-income and remote patients should be given more attention.Additionally, implementing measures to enhance children's intergenerational support can im-prove the healthcare-seeking behaviors of disabled patients.
