Chinese version of Postoperative Pain Fear Scale and its reliability and validity test in patients undergo-ing elective surgery
Objective To translate the English version of Postoperative Pain Fear Scale(POPFS)into Chinese and test its reliability and validity in patients undergoing elective surgery. Methods Following the Brislin model, the English version of POPFS was translated, back translated, culturally adapted and pre-surveyed to form the Chinese version of POPFS.From January to April 2022,233 patients undergoing elective surgery in Henan Provincial People's Hospital were selected by con-venience sampling for questionnaire survey to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of POPFS.Results The Chinese version of POPFS had 10 items, the item-level content validity index was 0.857~1.000,and the scale-level content validity of index was 0.957.Exploratory factor analysis extracted a common factor, with a cumulative contribution rate of 70.589%,and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the scale model fit was good;criterion-related validity showed that the correlation coefficient between the Chinese version of POPFS and the Chinese version of Fear of Pain Questionnaire-Ⅲwas 0.555(P<0.01);Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.919,and Guttman split-half reliability coefficient was 0.926.Conclusion The Chinese version of POPFS has good reliability and validity, and can be used for the measurement of postop-erative pain fear level in patients undergoing elective surgery in China.
