Research on mediating effect of nurses'professional values between hospital magnetic essentials and nurses'professional quality of life
Objective To investigate the present status of nurses'professional quality of life,nurses'professional values and hospital magnetic essentials,and to explore the correlation and interaction pathway among hospital magnetic essentials,nurses'professional values and nurses'professional quality of life.Methods 537 nurses were chosen from a tertiary hospital in Zhejiang Province by convenient sampling and investigated by general information questionnaire,Professional Quality of Life Scale,Essentials of Magnetism Scale Ⅱ(EOMⅡ)and Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised(NPVS-R).Results The total score on EOM Ⅱ was(141.46±20.04),the total score on NPVS-R was(96.74±16.90),and the scores on each dimension of nurses'Professional Quality of Life Scale were as follows:compassion satisfaction(34.01±6.69),burnout(24.82±5.19),and secondary traumatic stress(25.39±5.70).Hospital magnetic essentials could directly predict compas-sion satisfaction with the standardized effect value of 0.434,and it could also indirectly predict compassion satisfaction through the mediating role of nurses'professional values with the standardized effect value of 0.191,accounting for 30.56% of the total effect.Similarly,hospital magnetic essentials could directly predict burnout with the standardized effect value of-0.417,and it could also indirectly predict burnout through the mediating role of nurses'professional values with the stand-ardized effect value of-0.099,accounting for 19.19%of the total effect.Conclusion Nurses'professional values partially mediate the relationship between hospital magnetic essentials and nurse's compassion satisfaction or burnout.Nursing man-agers can improve nurses'professional values and nurses'professional quality of life by learning from the management concept and management model of magnet hospitals.
