Longitudinal investigation of physical activity status in pregnant women and analysis of its correlation with perinatal outcomes
Objective To longitudinally investigate the regularities of changes in the physical activity status of pregnant women and its correlation with perinatal outcomes. Methods A total of 285 pregnant women receiving outpatient care at the Women's Hospital School of Medicine Zhejiang University from January to August 2020 were included.A longitudinal re-search design was adopted, utilizing Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire.Follow-up surveys on physical activity sta-tus were conducted during early, middle, and late pregnancy.Perinatal outcomes were tracked to analyze the correlation be-tween physical activity status and perinatal outcomes. Results A total of 240 pregnant women completed the follow-up.A-mong them,155 cases did not meet the physical activity standards,41 cases partially met the standards, and 44 cases fully met the standards. There were significant differences in gestational weight gain(F=12.897,P<0.001)and postpartum bleeding volume(F=3.306,P=0.038)among the three groups. There were statistically significant differences in the inci-dence of gestational diabetes mellitus(x2=8.261,P=0.015)and gestational hypertension(x2=6.300,P=0.031)among the three groups.Significant differences were also observed in newborn birth weight(F=7.056,P=0.001),incidence of macrosomia(x2=10.012,P=0.005),and incidence of premature infants(x2=6.676,P=0.029)among the three groups. Conclusion The level and attainment rate of physical activity of pregnant women are not optimistic. It is necessary to en-hance health guidance on physical activity for pregnant women, and improve their overall pregnancy physical activity level and attainment rate,in order to enhance maternal and infant outcomes and promote maternal and infant health.
