The mediating effect of psychological coherence between the utilization of chronic disease resources and disease uncertainty in the COPD patients
Objective To investigate the current status of disease uncertainty,utilization of chronic disease resources,and psychological coherence in patients with COPD,and analyze the mediating effect of psychological coherence between the utilization of chronic disease resources and disease uncertainty.Methods Convenient sampling method was used to select 201 COPD patients as the research subjects.General information questionnaire,Mishel's Uncertainty of Illness Scale,Chronic Ill-ness Resource Survey,and Sense of Coherence Scale-13 were used for investigation.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between disease uncertainty,utilization of chronic disease resources,and psychological coherence.Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the mediating effect of psychological coherence between the utilization of chronic disease resources and disease uncertainty.Results The total score of disease uncertainty in COPD patients was(77.41±8.72),the total average score of utilization for chronic disease resources was(2.97±0.03),and the total score of psychological coherence was(63.43±6.16).Disease uncertainty in COPD patients was negatively correlated with utilization of chronic disease resources(r=-0.744,P＜O.01)and negatively correlated with psychological coherence(r=-0.671,P＜0.01).Utilization of chronic disease resources was positively correlated with psychological coherence(r=0.571,P＜0.01).The indirect effect of utilization for chronic disease resources on disease uncertainty through psychological coherence was-0.313.accounting for 33.6％of the total effect.Conclusion Disease uncertainty in COPD patients is at a moderate level,and psychological coherence partially mediates between the utilization of chronic disease resources and disease uncertainty.
