Variable Interval Multiple Apertures Antenna and Coherent Merging Technology
In order to reduce the height of antenna system for on-the-move satellite communication,a multiple apertures antenna with variable interval and coherent merging method is proposed. The current spacing between apertures is adjusted based on the principle of no gap and no overlapping among each aperture of antennas. And the performance deterioration problem of the fixed-spacing in vibration range of wide elevation is solved. Then, the majority of spatial phase difference between apertures is compen-sated by fixed delay lines in sub-array level, and the remaining spatial phase difference is compensated by the phase shifters. The compensation method ensures the effective merging of signals in different aper-tures.Simulation results show that variable interval multiple apertures antenna has a better performance more than the fixed spacing antennas(the sidelobe level is below-13 dB and the antenna gain is more than 33 dB over elevation scanning range),and the instantaneous bandwidth of the compensated antenna can meet the needs of communication.
