Evolution of architecture in China during Neolithic period
By analyzing the characteristics of the formation and evolution of urban layout and architecture dur-ing the Neolithic period in China, this study reveals the development process of architectural complexes from a radial layout to an axis-controlled courtyard layout. It is found that individual buildings have undergone a trans-formation from single spaces to multiple separated spaces, gradually evolving from primitive cave and nest dwellings to elevated wooden structures. This evolutionary process reflects significant progress in Chinese archi-tectural art, especially in the late primitive society.Large-scale sites such as the Liangzhu and Taosi sites have already shown the embryonic form of cities and elevated palaces, laying a solid foundation for the magnificent development of Chinese architectural culture over thousands of years. This research enriches the study of archi-tectural history and is of great significance for understanding ancient Chinese urban planning, architectural de-sign concepts, and the development of architectural technology. It also provides historical references and inspi-ration for modern architectural design and practice.
