Architectural color style of historical and cultural districts in Wuhan based on GIS—A case study of Sanyang Design Capital
Preserving architectural color style and coordinating colors between old and new buildings within a street is a challenge that must be addressed in the process of urbanization.Employing geographic information system(GIS)technology, the building color space information library was constructed by referencing China's architectural standard color card as the reference standard and quantifying with the Munsell Color System. It then conducted a quantitative analysis of the main characteristics of the historical and cultural architecture in Wuhan's Sanyang Design Capital regarding their color aesthetics, focusing on hue, value, and chroma. The re-sults indicate that the urban cultural heritage zone in Wuhan Sanyang Design Capital lacks uniform control over building heights,a harmonious blend between old and new structures, unified guidance for architectural colors, and clear architectural character orientation. Therefore,it is recommended to enhance the protection of architec-tural color style through digital means, while exploring a scientific and effective architectural color management mechanism.
