Comparison of effects of invisible appliance without bracket and fixed appliance on periodontal health and life quality in adolescent non-extractive orthodontic patients
Objective:To analyze the clinical effect of invisible appliance without bracket and fixed orthodontic on periodontal health and oral health related life quality in adolescent orthodontic patients.Methods:Eighty orthodontic adolescent patients in the first affiliated hospital of zhengzhou university between 2019 and 2021 were randomly divided into invisible group(n=40)and fixed group(n=40),and received orthodontic treatment with invisible orthodontic appliance without bracket and fixed orthodontic appliance,respectively.After 12 months of treatment,the periodontal health indexes complications,oral health-related life quality and complication between the two groups were compared.Results:After 12 months of treatment,there was no significant difference in clinical response rate between the two groups(P>0.05).Before and 6 months after treatment,there was no significant difference in periodontal health indicators between the two groups(P>0.05).However,after 12 months of treatment,plaque index score of the invisible group was significantly lower than that of the fixed group(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in other indexes.Before treatment,there was no significant difference in adolescent children oral health impact profile(COHIP)score and total score between the two groups(P>0.05),but the oral health,social-emotional health and COHIP scores in the invisible group were higher than those in the fixed group(P<0.05).The overall complication rate was 30.00%in the invisible group,which was significantly lower than that in the immobilized group(52.50%,P<0.05).Conclusion:After treatment for 12 months,the effectiveness of invisible appliance without bracket is similar to that of fixed appliance in the treatment of adolescent orthodontic patients,but it has advantages in maintaining periodontal health,improving oral life quality and reducing complications.
