MRI manifestation and literature review of tendon sheath fibroma
Objective:Discuss and summarize the MRI findings and published cases of tenosheath fibroma,so as to improve the understanding of this disease. Methods:Seven cases of FTS confirmed by surgery and pathology were retrospectively analyzed, and summarize the MRI features. The clinical features, imaging and histopathological findings of the previously published cases were reviewed.Resu1ts:Among the 7 cases of FTS,6 cases were located in the small segment of limbs(3 cases in the hand and 3 cases in the foot),and 1 case was located in the humerus. The mean age of the patients was 35.5 years(range,14 to 57 years),and more of them were men.About 10%of patients had a history of trauma. The common symptoms are a slow growing painless mass and limited range of motion. All lesions were single soft tissue signal masses, isointense on MR T1WI and low, isointense or hyperintense on T2WI,which could compress adjacent bone.Microscopically, the lesion was lobulated, with a large number of dense collagen interstitium scattered in fibroblasts,spindle-like cells, and slit-like vascular Spaces. There was no recurrence or malignant change after operation.Conc1usion:The tumor usually presents as a focal nodular mass adjacent to the tendon sheath.MRI T1-weighted isointensity,hypointensity,T2-weighted showed a variety of patterns, but more hypointensity than muscle, enhancement varied from no enhancement to obvious enhancement.
