A clinical study on oral care of patients undergoing mechanical ventilation via orotracheal intubation
Objective:To explore the effective oral care methods for patients with mechanical ventilation via orotracheal intubation,so as to reduce the occurrence of complications. Methods:One hundred and four eight patients mechanically ventilated via orotracheal intubation were randomly divided into 74 patients in control group and 74 patients in experimental group. The control group was given by the specialist responsible nurse of EICU with cotton balls dipped in normal saline according to the routine oral nursing practice. In the experimental group, the EICU specialist nurse used disposable brushing, washing and suction tube, and washed the teeth with water floss with normal saline. After operation, the oral spray dressing was sprayed into the left and right inner sides of the teeth. Results:The results of the first oral throat swab, the dental plaque index, and the results(P>0.05),between the two groups and the first oral care on the third day,the results were significantly better than those of the control group(P<0.01).On the second day before the first oral care, the number of oral plaque index score, improved Beck oral evaluation score and sensory perception analysis score were significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05),the incidence of VAP in the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05),and the time of mechanical ventilation time was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion:The oral care method of the experimental group can significantly improve the oral cleaning effect, improve patient comfort, reduce the incidence of VAP and reduce the occurrence of complications in the patients, which is of great significance to the patients.
