The article analyses the difference of economic development between the western developed countries and China,such as,economic development stage,subject position of economic geography,national social and cultural environment.Then,it explores the special features of economic geography with Chinese characteristics,and puts forward the possibility of constructing the characteristic economic geography of China.Three important points of constructing the characteristic economic geography are summed up:special facts of the economic geography reflecting the developing country with rapid development and further explanations to be phenomenton;research framework based on geography and absorbing the relevant economic theory;and the important impact of China's special political system and cultural tradition on economic geography.
