Comparison and Selection of Pier Shapes for the Shuidui River Bridge in the Mountainous Area of Western Henan
The Shuidui River Bridge in Luoyang is a continuous multi-span simply supported bridge, which has a large number of piers,a great height and large span.Ensuring the quality of the project while reducing the construction cost and improving the construction efficiency are the key research issues of the project.Midas/Civil software was used to establish the finite element model of four kinds of pier structure schemes, calculate the stability coefficients of the pier under different working conditions. And study the effect of temperature load and wind load on the initial defects of four types of pier-column structures, and the comparison and selection of pier schemes are made from construction technology to design cost. The study result shows that the double-limb cylindrical pier has a simple process, the cost is reduced by 25%,and the low-rise construction safety is high, which is suitable for the construction of piers below 20 m;When the pier height is 20~35 m,the double-limb square column pier has better mechanical properties and excellent appearance quality, which is suitable for the construction of pier columns in this height interval; The number of piers in the height interval of 35~60 m is large, and the construction cost and overall construction period of the constant-section box pier are better than the variable-section box pier.On the premise of ensuring the quality of the project, considering the overall project duration and construction cost, choosing the box pier of equal section is the best solution; The safety problems of high piers above 60 m are prominent, and the mechanical properties of variable-section box-type piers have obvious advantages and high construction safety, which is the optimal structural scheme. The Shuidui River Bridge was successfully completed by adopting the optimal scheme, and the overall project achieved good economic benefits, which provided a certain reference for similar projects in western Henan.
