Chinese textbooks are key carriers to store rural memories and to construct rural images,and their portrayal of rural areas directly affects students'understanding of them.Using selected rural texts from the unified edition of primary school Chinese textbooks as samples,this study employs content analysis to explore the rural im-age constructed in the textbooks from three dimensions:rural landscape,rural characters,and rural culture.It is discovered that the unified primary school Chinese textbooks highlight the original ecological and natural rural background in landscape symbols.In terms of character symbols,it depicts positive and proactive images of villag-ers.In terms of cultural symbols,it carries rich and diverse local civilizations.In the context of the new era,when shaping the image of rural areas in Chinese language textbooks,attention should be paid to adhering to the position of Chinese cultural values by carefully selecting the content of rural image,optimizing the distribution of rural lit-erature in textbooks for balance and rationality enhancing the teaching effectiveness of rural themed selected ar-ticles in textbooks and promoting curriculum transformation.
