Development and Innovation of Genres in Chinese Literary History by Zheng Zhenduo
At the beginning of the 20th century,the compilation of the"History of Chinese Literature"became a hot topic in the academic community.Zheng Zhenduo pointed out the deficiencies in genre of the nine books on Chinese literary history at home and abroad at that time,and demanded the production of a"complete history of Chinese literature".two extreme literary concepts in the literary world at that time,Zheng Zhenduo chose the"natu-ral"literary view from the two extreme literary concepts in the literary world ath that time and focused on studying popular literature through the search for overseas literature.In the study of popular literature,"literary style evolu-tion"became an important basis for Zheng Zhenduo to divide literary history into stages in the 1930s.Under the de-velopment of social history and personal ideological changes,Zheng Zhenduo redivided literary history in the 1950s with a focus on social nature.At the same time,Zheng Zhenduo's compilation of literary history restated the expression of literary history from the perspective of the people's historical view.Zheng Zhenduo presented a com-pletely new literary history in"History of Chinese Literature with Illustrations"with innovative literary views and editing methods.
