Simulation and analysis of the scavenging process of two-stroke free piston engine
The scavenging process directly affects the working performance of the spark ignition two-stroke free piston engine. Therefore, based on the analysis model established, some influences of the scavenging process are analyzed by numerical simulation method. The results show that the scavenging efficiency and the gas quality in the cylinder can be effectively improved by using external air supply mode which can increase the inlet pressure. When the engine speed varies, the lower speed is beneficial to the completion of the scavenging process, but has little effect on the gas quality in the cylinder. Moreover,if the piston stroke value is less than the designed, the scavenging becomes worse, and the gas quality in the cylinder decreases significantly.
