Effects of bagasse biochar on shear strength and permeability of paddy soil
In order to study the effects of different biochar additions on the mechanical properties of paddy soil, the paddy soil of Sanjie Town of Lingchuan County was taken as the research object, and the direct shear test and penetration test were carried out on the paddy soil with different ratios of biochar(0%,2%,4%,6%).The cohesion and internal friction angle of soil before and after the improvement were measured by direct shear method, and the permeability coefficient of soil samples was measured at the same time to evaluate the improvement effect, and the influence of biochar on the shear strength and permeability coefficient of paddy soil was analyzed. The results showed that when the amount of biochar was 6%of the mass of paddy soil, its cohesion and internal friction angle reached the maximum value, which were 77.0 kPa and 30.6°,respectively.At the same time, the permeability coefficient of the improved soil sample significantly decreased. Moreover, the analysis of biochar improved paddy soil by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)showed that the biochar filled the pores between soil particles after incorporation, and had a cementation effect with soil particles, which increased the strength of soil.
