Although the unintentional discharge of firearm by police is an event of small probability,it,as a law enforcement accident,not only leads to undue casualties and property losses,but also arouses public doubts about the police's ability to use firearm,affecting the image of the police and the credibility of law enforcement.It should be highly valued by legislators,police agencies,and their personnel.In order to effectively reduce unintentional discharge of firearm by police,police agencies should focus on the internal and external causes of accidental firing,adopt a dual track governance model,improve the safety performance of police firearms,strengthen scientific training in the use of firearms by police,and improve the safety rules system for the use of firearms by police,so as to achieve substantive prevention of accidental firing and maintain the law enforcement safety of police.
