Regional Differences and Dynamic Distribution Evolution of Digital Economy Development Level in the Yangtze River Midstream Urban Agglomeration
Based on panel data from 28 cities in the Yangtze River midstream urban agglomeration from 2011 to 2020,the entropy weighting method was used to measure the level of digital economy development, and the Dagum Gini coefficient and kernel density estimation methods were used to analyze the regional differences and dynamic distribution of the urban agglomeration. The study found that:(1)the level of digital economy development in the cities of the Yangtze River midstream urban agglomeration continued to improve, and the overall trend of regional digital economy development tended to be balanced;(2)the results of the Dagum Gini coefficient decomposition showed that during the observation period, the phenomenon of uneven development of digital economy in the Wuhan city circle was more significant, and the difference fluctuation within the Changzhutang urban agglomeration rim and the Poyanghu urban agglomeration rim decreased;the development gap in digital economy between the three major regions showed a decreasing trend;from the perspective of difference sources, the difference in digital economy development between the three major regions was mainly composed of inter-regional super-density variation.(3)From the distribution characteristics of the kernel density curve, the overall kernel density curves of the Yangtze River midstream urban agglomeration and the three major sub-regions showed a"long-tail peak"trend, and the difference in the level of digital economy development within the three major sub-regions showed an expanding trend throughout the observation period.Based on the above conclusions, the Yangtze River midstream urban agglomeration should make every effort to enhance the level of regional digital economy development, and cities within the region should carry out differentiated and characteristic industrial layout of the digital economy according to local conditions, and strengthen cross-regional policy communication and collaboration in the digital economy industry.
