The Annotation and Textual Verification of Words in Zilin
Zilin is a character book written by LYU Chen in the Western Jin Dynasty.Later generations referred to it as"Inheriting Shuowen and Initiating Yupian".It was particularly essential in the study of vocabulary throughout the Middle Ages but has since been lost.On the basis of previous compilations, the paper relies on digital means to compile 154 articles from Li Shan's annotations in Wenxuan, which contains 6 articles than prior editions. The author chose eleven terms from the collection"Dang","Yan","Rou","Yan","Ming","Jian","Chi","Ju","Jing","Lang",and"Xing"to explain or verify the various meanings of each entry or add instances. The entries collected by Zilin and Shuowen are compared and analyzed to explore the relation-ship between the two.
