Investigation on Tiny Babesias and Borrelia burgdorferi in Muroids Collected in Eastern Mountains of Liaoning Province and Jilin Province,China
Objective To investigate the prevalence of tiny Babesias and Borrelia burgdorferi in muroids in east-ern mountains of Liaoning province and Jilin province,China. Methods Wild rodents were captured from Kuandian dis-trict,Liaoning province and Ji'an forest,Jilin province and the detection of tiny Babesias and Borrelia burgdorferi were carried out by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results A total of 129 spleen DNA samples of wild rodents from Ji'an and Kuandian districts were detected for tiny Babesias and Borrelia burgdorferi, and 15 were positive, with a positive rate of 11.63%,the positive rates of tiny Babesias and Borrelia burgdorferi were 6.20%(8/129)and 5.43%(7/129)respectively,and there were no differences in positive rates(x2=0.000,P=1.000).There was no significant difference in the positive rates of tiny Babesias and Borrelia burgdorferi from different species of wild rodents in Kuandian and Ji'an.Conclusion Wild rodents in the eastern mountainous of Liaoning and Jilin provinces of China are infected with tiny Babesias and Borrelia burgdorferi, which suggesting a potential risk of infection in these districts.
