Investigation and Analysis of Glycometabolic Status in Rehabilitative Military Aircrew
Objective To investigate the current situation of blood glucose metabolism in convalescent military flight personnel and analyze the characteristics of abnormal glucose metabolism,so as to provide scientific basis for the a-viation security of diabetes mellitus(DM)in flight personnel. Methods A total of 2591 military flight personnel who came to a center for recuperation from January of 2021 to September of 2023 were randomly selected.Oral glucose toler-ance test was performed to test fasting blood glucose(FBG),2-h postprandial blood glucose(2hPG)and glycosylated he-moglobin(HbA1c).The prevalence of DM and pre-diabetes mellitus(PDM)were calculated, the blood glucose metabo-lism were compared with the different age groups(<30 years old,30~39 years old,40~49 years old,≥50 years old),the different flight time(<1000 h,1000~2999 h,3000~4999 h,≤5000 h),the different service categories(pi-lot,combat service),and the different types of aircraft(fighter, bomber, helicopter, transport aircraft, others). Results There were 286 patients(11.04%)diagnosed with PDM,49 patients(1.89%)diagnosed with DM,and 2256 patients(87.07%)diagnosed with normal blood glucose in 2591 military flight personnel. In 286 PDM patients, the de-tection rate of impaired fasting glucose(IFG),impaired glucose tolerance(IGT),IFG combined IGT and only 5.7%≤H1bA1c≤6.4 was 1.93%,2.82%,2.01%and 4.28%,respectively.The prevalence of DM or PDM and levels of FPG、2 hPG、HbA1C in flight personnel increased with age(all P<0.05)and flight time(all P<0.05),there were no statistical difference in the prevalence of DM or PDM and levels of FPG、2 hPG、HbA1C among different service cate-gories and different types of aircraft(all P>0.05).Conclusion The abnormal blood glucose metabolism of military aircrew is prominent, and the risk of potential DM is high, and the prevalence of DM or PDM and levels of FPG、2 hPG、HbA1C is cumulatively related to age and flight time, but not related to service categories and aircraft types, which seriously affects flight safety and flight life, diabetes prevention and control measures for flight personnel should be strengthened.
