Investigation on the Current Situation,Impact and Cognition of Menstruation Among Female Officers and Soldiers in Plateau Region
Objective To study the menstrual status and its impact on work and life of female officers and soldiers in the plateau region,and provide a basis for targeted health care work for female officers and soldiers in special areas.Methods A self-made questionnaire was used to investigate the menstrual status,as well as the understanding of men-strual knowledge in female officers and soldiers who underwent short-term training(short training group,n=50)and long-term service(long service group,n=52)in the plateau region.Results The overall health status of female officers and soldiers in plateau during the physiological period was generally good,the proportion of normal menstrual cycle fre-quency,normal proportion of menstrual volume and normal proportion of menstrual length in the two groups were above 78.00%,64.00%and 96.00%,respectively.There were no significant differences in the menstrual cycle frequency,menstrual bleeding volume,menstrual duration,and incidence of dysmenorrhea between the officers and soldiers in two groups(all P>0.05).The proportion of soldiers in the long-term training group who were unable to participate in regu-lar training due to menstruation was significantly higher than that of the short-term training group(P<0.01).The main sources of menstruation knowledge were female elders,medical official account,and television and internet,etc.Conclusion Attention should be paid to the physiological health of female officers and soldiers in plateau area,scientific and reasonable military training should be arranged,health education should be strengthened,and comprehensive health care work for female officers and soldiers in special areas should be done to help improve the combat effectiveness of the army.
