Clinical Effects of Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body Implantation
Objective To observe the indicators before and after foldable capsular vitreous body(FCVB)implanta-tion and evaluate its therapeutic effect.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 31 patients(31 eyes)who underwent FCVB implantation with silicone oil dependence after vitrectomy for severe ocular trauma and recurrent retinal detachment at author's hospital from June 2021 to June 2023,the patients were followed up for 1 to 24 months after surgery,and the visual acuity,intraocular pressure,cornea,fundus and FCVB status,as well as the degree of satisfaction for the eye appearance were observed.Results A total of 31 patients completed the FCVB surgery success-fully.There was no significant difference in visual acuity between pre-operation and post-operation(P>0.05).The aver-age intraocular pressure before operation was(9.80±6.20)mmHg,and the average intraocular pressure 12 months after operation was(12.30±3.20)mmHg,which was significantly higher than that before the operation(P=0.011).Five patients with obvious corneal opacification could not observe the fundus after operation,while 26 patients with transparent or local corneal opacification could observe the fundus after operation.After operation,18 patients had flat retina and 8 patients had varying degree of neovascular proliferation and detachment.The computed tomography scan showed that the FCVB was fully deployed within the eye and the eyeball had a full shape.A total of 21 patients satisfied or basically satis-fied with the appearance of the eyeball after operation.No surgical complications such as rejection or rupture balloon were observed in all patients.Conclusion The implantation of FCVB for severe ocular trauma and recurrent retinal detachment with silicone oil dependence is safe and effective,which can prevent the need for eyeball extraction and maintain the shape and intraocular pressure of the eyeball to a certain extent.
