This paper attempts to analyze the relationship between man and nature in A House for Mr.Biswas from the perspective of post-pastoral in the theoretical framework of postcolonial ecocriticism. In this novel,in the post-colonial era, colonist countries are oppressing Trinidad in various ways. The mindset of the people in Trinidad is then assimilated by the western countries, and the oppressed Trinidadians join them in exploiting nature.Nature, with its unique agency, resists men's oppression and avenges itself. It is true that nature may inflict death upon men,but death is just one of the many facets of nature.Nature is in a balance of fluidity between death and birth, growth and aging.Nature instills awe, which may count as the start of a new era where anthropocentricity may be abandoned and the relationship between nature and man is likely to be radically transformed.
