Based on the requirements of the Party's 20th National Congress on"enhancing cultural confidence","stimulating the vitality of cultural innovation and creation of the whole nation","achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance by 2035,entering the forefront of innovative countries",and"significantly enhan-cing the soft power of national culture",by analyzing the current situation,this paper finds out the causes of the problems existing in domestic sci-tech periodicals and clears out the constraints on the cultural confidence of sci-tech periodicals.It is found that the current constraints on the cultural confidence of Chinese sci-tech periodicals mainly come from the following three aspects:(1)the existing evaluation index system of sci-tech periodicals is unreasonable;(2)the inertia of scholars'thinking leads to the tendency of high-level manuscripts to be submitted to foreign journals;(3)the language characteristics of Chinese science and technology periodicals make it difficult for them to be included in internationally renowned databases.Therefore,in order to build high-level science and technology periodicals in China and practice cultural confidence,the focus should be on constructing a multi-evalu-ation index system of science and technology periodicals that conforms to our national conditions to enhance cultural soft power and influence and highlight the cultural impetus of social development.
