An Overview of Concentration,Distribution and Sources of Organophosphate Esters in the Marine Environment
As an emerging organic pollutant and potential persistent organic pollutant, organophosphate esters(OPEs)in environmental behavior, biological toxicity and risk assessment has become a research hotspot in the field of environmental science. As an important part of the earth's ecological environment, the ocean is not only the largest sink of many pollutants such as OPEs,but also can transport pollutants to the world through its own physical, chemical and biological processes. Therefore, the exploration of OPEs in the marine environment is related to its global cycle and convergence trend. This paper analyzed the published data on OPEs in the global marine environment, and systematically summarized the research progress of distribution and source of OPEs in the marine environment. The results showed that the content of OPEs in the atmosphere over the ocean was generally in the range of a few hundreds to a few thousands pg/m3,mianly from land air mass transport, and most of them were present in the granular phase. There were no obvious difference in the northern and southern hemispheres.Concentration of OPEs in seawater was between a few tenths to a few hundreds ng/L,and OPEs in coastal waters mainly came from river transport.OPEs in far-reaching seawater area mainly came from the motor transport of the ocean currents. The overall distribution of OPEs in the sea water showed the trend of spreading to the near shore sea;the average concentration of OPEs in marine sediments was a few ng/g(dry weight),and OPEs in marine sediments mainly came from the discharge of industrial and domestic sewage. There was a big difference in the concentration and composition of OPEs in the marine organisms and no obvious linear relationship with the fat content in the organism.Marine organisms mainly ingested OPEs in seawater and sediments through their own respiration, feeding, skin adsorption and absorption.
