Simulation and Partial Discharge Experimental Study on Cable Intermediate Joints with Defects
Due to the processing technology, the intermediate joint of medium and low voltage cables is the weak insulation area of the entire line. This article takes 10kV XLPE cables as the example to study the influence of defect types on the local electric field distribution and partial discharge characteristics of cables.Firstly,a series of simulation models were constructed for electric field analysis to study the impact of different process defects on local electric field distortion in cables.Secondly,a partial discharge experimental platform was established and partial discharge experiments on the produced test samples was carried out.The results indicated that process defects can cause distortion in the spatial distribution of the electric field, and the degree of electric field distortion is not only related to the type of defect, but also to the size of the defect. At the same time, the experimental results indicate that the initial voltage and discharge amount of partial discharge are related to the type of defect. The research results of the paper provide a basis for the construction of an online monitoring system for the working status of cable lines,as well as for the evaluation and fault diagnosis of cable operation status.
