Comparison of Scientific Research Competitiveness of Universities in Henan Province Based on ESI and InCites Databases
Based on the comparison of scientific research productivity,influence,innovation and development of colleges and universities in Henan province,this paper evaluates the status of scientific research competitiveness of colleges and universities in Henan Province.Taking 17 colleges and universities in Henan province that have been selected into the Top 1%of ESI disciplines worldwide as the research subjects,this paper collects the scientific research productivity(number of WoS papers,domestic,international and provincial rankings),scientific research influence(paper citation frequency,average citation frequency per paper,number of top papers,number of ESI top 1%and 1 ‰ disciplines),scientific research innovation(number and percentage of hot papers and international cooperation papers)and scientific research development(number and percentage of high cited papers).From the perspective of scientific research productivity and influence,Zhengzhou University is ahead of the other 16 universities.In terms of scientific research innovation and development capabilities,Zhengzhou University,Henan University,Henan Polytechnic University and Henan Normal University have relatively higher scientific research innovation and development capabilities.On the whole,Henan province has 17 universities whose disciplines are included in the top 1%of ESI.The overall scientific research competitiveness of Zhengzhou University is higher than that of other colleges and universities.Henan University,Henan Polytechnic University and Henan Normal University also have strong scientific research competitiveness,and the scientific research competitiveness of other colleges and universities needs to be further improved.In order to enhance the scientific research competitiveness of colleges and universities in Henan province,colleges and universities should encourage their researchers to publish high-impact papers(highly cited papers and hot papers),formulate the school's discipline planning based on the potential disciplines,and focus on cultivating 2-3 key disciplines.In addition,Henan universities should further strengthen scientific research cooperation and academic exchanges with well-known academic institutions at home and abroad,and increase the efforts to attract talents to each university.In conclusion,this study can provide certain data references for improving the scientific research competitiveness of colleges and universities in Henan province.
