The Interpretation of Tess's Image from the Perspective of Ecological Feminism
Ecological consciousness runs through the whole novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and ecofeminists are embedded in Tess's whole life process. As the daughter of nature,Tess who has experienced the wonderful living state of"unity of nature and humanbeings",struggled to grow up in the bumps of fate, and finally was destroyed in the awakening at the cost of her own life. The relationship between humanbeings and nature, the wasteland of the spirit is the most primitive and pure ecological relationship.Because of the temptation of the society and the complexity of the human heart,Tess's innocence and the hypocrisy of the society were interwoven, and her growth is destined to be tortuous and full of struggle and tragedy.Tess lived in a period of transformation from agricultural civilization to industrial civilization,so her awakening and counterattack against the unfair moral, religious and male-centered social hierarchy were not only the awakening of life consciousness, but also of ecological consciousness.Although Tess was destroyed in the hanging, mankind eventually moved from agricultural civilization to industrial civilization in the destruction.
