Study on Mechanical Properties of Stone Masonry Materials—Taking the Stone Arch Bridge of Ancient Post Road in Hunan and Guangdong as an Example
[Purposes]Based on the stone arch bridge of Xiangyue Ancient Post Road—Wansui Bridge, relevant indoor tests and data fitting analysis were carried out to provide reference and basis for clarify-ing the mechanical properties of stone masonry materials, especially the compressive and shear mechani-cal properties,as well as the accurate evaluation of the bearing capacity of old stone arch bridges.[Meth-ods]Referring to the actual bridge and selecting local ordinary limestone, three types of specimens were made, including raw stone, joint mortar, and stone masonry, and axial compressive and shear tests were conducted;Through data comparison, summary and fitting analysis, the influence of joint thickness,lat-eral pressure and other parameters on the Strength of materials performance of stone masonry is studied.[Findings]There is a certain degree of dispersion in the compressive performance of the raw stone, which may be due to the presence of gaps, joints, etc.inside the stone used;the thickness of masonry joints and lateral pressure has a significant impact on the compressive performance and shear strength of stone masonry specimens, which shows that the smaller the thickness of masonry joints, the higher the compressive strength, and the greater the lateral pressure, the higher the shear bearing capacity.[Conclu-sions]Lateral pressure is an important factor that affects the shear strength of stone masonry. The two have a positive linear relationship and comply with the characteristics of Mohr-Coulomb theory. Its math-ematical relationship can be determined through data fitting.
