Research on Cultivated Land Fragmentation in Yanchuan
[Purposes]Based on the 2022 land use data of Yanchuan county, this study focuses on Yanch-uan County as the research area and aims to investigate the extent and causes of cultivated land fragmen-tation in order to provide guidance for the sustainable utilization and protection of cultivated land.[Meth-ods]The evaluation indices selected for assessing cultivated land fragmentation include average area, maximum patch size, patch density, and shape index. The comprehensive index method and entropy method are employed to determine index weights and calculate comprehensive scores.Based on these re-sults,an analysis is conducted to identify the factors contributing to cultivated land fragmentation in Yan-chuan County.[Findings]The findings are as follows:① Cultivated land fragmentation exhibits a higher degree in western areas compared to eastern areas within the study region.② Among all administrative districts in Yanchuan County,50%experience severe levels of fragmented cultivation, while 25%fall into moderate or mild categories respectively.③ Natural factors such as topography and soil fertility sig-nificantly influence cultivated land fragmentation in Yanchuan County;meanwhile,social-economic fac-tors including underutilization of agricultural resources and fragmented ownership also contribute.[Con-clusions]To mitigate cultivated land fragmentation in Yanchuan County, strategies such as implement-ing land consolidation projects and adjusting ownership patterns should be considered.Additionally,it is crucial to strengthen post-project supervision measures while ensuring rational utilization of agricultural resources so as to prevent further intensification of fragmented cultivation.
