Simulation Analysis of Anti-Penetration Performance of Fibre-metal Hybrid Laminates
[Purposes]According to the lightweight design requirements of ships,fibre-reinforced com-posites have problems such as poor impact resistance, which need to be investigated.[Methods]In this paper,a basalt/steel hybrid laminate suitable for the sea is investigated for its anti-penetration perfor-mance.A finite element model is established and its validity is verified. Then the ballistic performance and failure behaviour of the hybrid laminates under various working conditions are studied compara-tively.[Findings]The results show that the 3/2-layered target plate has the best protection performance in most cases, and the complex layup structure can optimize the failure form of the hybrid laminate,so that the layup near the backing plate is more inclined to show the damage form of tensile fracture.[Con-clusions]This damage from is conducive to the fibre-reinforced composites to give play to their perfor-mance advantages and enhance the protective effect.
