Study on the Performance of Emulsified Asphalt Cement Slurries with Different Polarities
[Purposes]This paper aims to investigate the effects and mechanisms of ionic polarity,water-cement ratio, and ratio of asphalt to cement on the fluidity, compressive strength, and shrinkage charac-teristics of cement emulsified asphalt(CEA)slurry.[Methods]This study examines the influence laws and mechanisms of various factors on the performance of CEA through multiple component ratio experi-ments and investigates the impact levels of different factors on the performance of CEA slurry using or-thogonal analysis.[Findings]When the A/C is 0.2,with the W/C increasing from 0.35 to 0.45,the fluid-ity,compressive strength at 3 days, and setting shrinkage of CEA slurry with different ionic polarity all increase. When the W/C is constant, the cationic CEA slurry has the minimum fluidity and solidification shrinkage, but the maximum compressive strength at 3 days, whereas the anionic CEA slurry has the maximum fluidity and solidification shrinkage, but the minimum compressive strength at 3 days.[Con-clusions]In practical engineering applications,if a high strength of the slurry after solidification is re-quired,it is recommended to give priority to cationic emulsified asphalt. If high fluidity CEA slurry is needed, priority should be given to anionic emulsified asphalt, and the solidification shrinkage of the slurry should be considered.
